It's been a while, and I have a lot of catching up to do... so I'm going to start with a recent session and work my way back.
This session was SO PERFECT! Not only was he a beautiful, sweet, sleepy little bundle, but his mommy and daddy were welcoming and so kind. It's hard walking into a stranger's home to work, but it's so much easier when you feel like your among friends as soon as you walk in the door. That's what happened here.
Once I arrived to their beautiful home just outside of Cookeville, I asked where they'd like me to set up and began bringing in my supplies. While I was setting up, I gave them a chance to look over my props and backdrops to choose what they'd like used in their session.
They had already given me some ideas of what they'd like to see, they wanted some teals and greens so I brought along a couple of each plus some extras in case they wanted to mix things up. They DID NOT disappoint and ended up choosing my favorite drops immediately!
Our very first set was with my newest (and new favorite) drop. I love the texture and colors, and used this sweet sleepy cap to bring out some of the lighter parts.
One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to hear everyone's birth story, and luckily I got to the chance to get to know Ethan's parents a little better and learn about his birth day while setting up for family shots. You'd never guess that this little guy gave his parents such a hard time coming into the world, because he was absolute perfection during our session. We had to stop once while I fed him, but other than that we sailed right through.
I got far more excited than I should have when they chose this beautiful mint drop. I've been dying to use it with a baby boy and it was everything I had imagined.
Here are a few other sets we did during his solo images. I mean, can you believe all these beautiful colors?! It's going to take me a long time to get over how much I loved their drop choices, because they chose everything I would have!
After we finished up with sweet Ethan's solo images, I passed him off to mom and she gave him a quick diaper change while I set up for their parent images. Not all of my clients choose to get parent or family shots during their newborn session, so it makes me REALLY happy when parents decide to get in the picture.
I highly recommend to everyone reading to get in the picture at every opportunity. I know, a lot of people aren't comfortable in front of the camera (me included), but your family will be so grateful. I know every single one of my tiny clients will one day look back on these images with a smile seeing their mom and dad and all the love shown in these pictures.

When I went back a couple of weeks after their session and the Arnold family saw their gallery, they were in love with every photo. It made my heart so happy to see how much each image meant to them, and I remember their kind words to me forever. After trying and failing to choose only the amount included in their collection, they chose to upgrade to the full gallery and keep every single one of their sweet memories. I LOVE when parent's don't leave any images behind! I love this little family, and know that Ethan is a lucky little man to have such amazing parents to help him make his way through this crazy world.
